A Sporting Hub in Ranchi: JSCA International Stadium

Indian Premier League, the franchise cricket tournament conducted by BCCI, has gained a massive fan base around the globe. With the kind of talent that is showcased, the league is followed in different countries. It lasts for nearly two months every year and the matches are conducted in the prominent stadiums of the country. Usually, these stadiums are the home ground of one or the other playing teams, but sometimes neutral venues are also picked. These neutral venues do not have a franchise team of their own. One such neutral venue is JSCA International Stadium, located in the heart of Ranchi, Jharkhand. The stadium has hosted 7 IPL matches and since it’s the home ground of the legend MS Dhoni, fans come in huge numbers to support their local player.

Pitch report and ground conditions at JSCA International Stadium

The pitch at JSCA International Stadium is flat and offers immense support to batters. In simple language, it has a ‘Patta’ wicket, and thus is a treat for batsmen. Very little assistance is provided to bowlers and to excel here they need to bowl variations. The ground is well maintained with lush green grass, making the outfield quick. Teams prefer to bat first after winning the toss.
