Who is more likely to lift the 2024 T20 Women’s World Cup?

Predicting champions of 2024 T20 Women’s World Cup

The 2024 T20 World Cup was a great campaign for the Indian team as they managed to lift the prestigious trophy after so many years. But now, as we proceed to the second half of 2024, ICC is conducting the Women’s World cup as well. UAE will be hosting the mega event and a lot of thrill and excitement is expected between 3rd October and 20th October. Total 12 teams will be participating and hence a high voltage tournament is bound to happen.
Since it is a T20 tournament, there is high unpredictability with no margin of error for any team. The team which handles the pressure well, will eventually grab the trophy.

In this article by ZAP cricket, we will discuss about the teams that have a brighter chance of lifting the cup

Australia

Australians are the outright favorites in the upcoming World Cup.They are the most successful team as they have lifted 6 titles so far. Their squad too looks balanced and their team has stability. However, this would be their first World Cup without the star captain- Meg Lanning, so a lot of pressure would be on Alyssa Healy as this would be her first stint as a leader. Overall, they have a bright chance of lifting the trophy provided they adjust quickly to the spin friendly conditions in UAE.

They are grouped with India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. Three out of their four opponents are from subcontinent, thus, more used to spin friendly conditions.

England

England won the inaugural season of T20 Women’s World Cup in 2009 and since then they have never won the cup again. However, this year, they have a bright chance of turning fortunes on their side. They too have a packed team and are one of the toughest contingents in the upcoming World Cup.
They are ground with Bangladesh, Scotland, South Africa and West Indies and they seem to be most balanced side in their pool. Hence, qualification for knockouts shouldn’t be a steep task for the English women.

Squad: Heather Knight(c), Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Dani Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Bess Heath, Amy Jones, Freya Kemp, Linsey Smith, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Danni Wyatt

India

India’s biggest strength is that they are most acclimated to the spin friendly conditions. The wickets there will be slow and will offer turn, which will be a lot like the subcontinent’s conditions. It is a good opportunity for Harmanpreet Kaur to be a World Cup winning captain, she has lost by small margins on a number of occasions, maybe this could be the time when women in blue will cross the line.

India are in Group A which looks tougher than Group B. So, women in blue have to put their best foot forward in order to qualify for the knockout

South Africa

The South African team lost the last edition of the T20 World Cup from Australia. Over the years, they have gone even more stronger as their batting and bowling attack is finer than before. Their skipper Laura Wolvaardt is the player to look for as she has the caliber to single handedly win matches for her
